Dave Sheehan
“Versatility”
is the best word to describe Dave’s roll with Groove Society. Most often, he
adeptly sings the bass part, but with his exceptionally broad range, he covers
the tenor part when necessary. He has been involved with music since he was a
child and has been influenced by such jazz greats as Miles Davis, Ella
Fitzgerald, Take 6, and Sarah Vaughan. He is thankful for his father always
introducing new artists like these to him.
Dave holds a degree in music
education from the University
of Northern Colorado and currently enjoys teaching music at Franklin
Elementary School.
While at UNC, Dave was deeply involved in the choral program and with the music
of Campus Crusade for Christ. He also served in UNC’s student chapter of their
music education organizations, and was a member of the vocal jazz groups Et
Cetera and Vocal Jazz I. He is grateful for the professors who have always been
such a huge influence there.
Since graduating, Dave has
been involved in performing with various churches and has sung with the Singers
Master Chorale, where he received critical acclaim as a feature soloist in
Mozart’s Requiem. Lately, one of Dave’s favorite positions in the music
world has been as a judge with Colorado’s All-State Vocal Jazz Choir.
